Speech Language Therapist
Deandra Schmidt is a licensed Speech Language pathologist by the State of California and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence through our national organization, American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA). Deandra is also a member of California Speech Hearing Association (CSHA) where she sits on the advisory board representing speech language pathologists for District 7.
Deandra received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communicative Disorders and Sciences from San Diego State University and her Masters of Science Degree
from California State University of Northridge, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Deandra has been a practicing speech language pathologist in a private practice setting for 9 years.
Deandra works with clients ranging from 18 months to 32 years of age. She has experience with articulation disorders/phonological disorders, fluency disorders, expressive and receptive language disorders/delays, apraxia, Autism, PDD-NOS, Asperger’s, oral motor weakness/incoordination and leading social skills groups.
Deandra appreciates the benefits in collaborating with families as well as other professionals and schools to create a partnership that will facilitate better understanding of the child’s communicative skills. Both speech and language skills are vital in creating relationships with peers, communicating needs and expressing ideas, which result in better self-esteem.
